This year marked the 4th year of the Asian Conference on Intelligent Information and Database Systems. ACIIDS 2012 is an international scientific conference for research in the field of intelligent information and database systems. The aim of the conference is to provide an internationally respected forum for scientific research in the technologies and applications of intelligent information and database systems. This conference provides an excellent opportunity for researchers to discuss modern approaches and techniques for intelligent information and database systems, and their applications. The proceedings of ACIIDS 2012 will be published by Springer in series Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNCS, /LNAI) (indexed by DBLP, EI, and Thomson ISI).

This year the lab was invited to submit a full paper regarding aspects of leadership within the robotic context. The paper was authored by several members of CUTE can be found here:

The presentation highlighted insights outlined in the paper, and was well received by the audience. It was presented in the e-Commerce track of the conference. Due to its quality the paper has been invited to be published in an extended format for an upcoming journal. The presentation slides can be found here:

Overall the conference was very well organized. Although some of the general topics at the conference are out-of-scope in regards to the research conducted at CUTE, nevertheless it provided an excellent perspective by practitioners of other diciplines in regards to the general research of Lovotics and its impact on society and culture as a whole.

The quality of the other presented papers was surprising for such a young and small conference. ACIIDS 2013 will be in Kuala Lumpur next year and although I do not recommend submitting papers for normal tracks, I do recommend submitting a paper and sending a representative from the lab if we are again invited to participate.
