From 14th to 15th July 2011, I went to the 3D image conference in Kyoto, Japan. This conference is famous conference about 3-Dimentional Image in Japan. The half of presentations is in the holographic style 3D display and the others are using integral photography and parallax image system. The main issue about my research is parallax image projecting system. I'm introducing a couple of presentation from this conference. Title is A 200-inch horizontal-parallax-ready 3D HD projection display.

It is presented by Shoichiro Iwasawa from NICT(National Institute of Information and Communications Technology).

This system has a large projector array that provides more than 50 parallax images at same time.

The work area is 1.3m width (one image is projected for each 26mm width area)at 5.5m viewing distance from screen. In the last year's report, they archive to develop a 70 inch horizontal parallax display. This system is improved to 200 inch and the result of experiment show the good motion parallax within a normal visual fatigue. Second paper is "360 degree table-screen three-dimensional display employing small high-speed projector array".

It is presented by Shigeki Uchida from Institute of Engineering, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. This university is well-known in the 3D display's research. This paper is improved version of the Paul Debevec's "Rendering for an Interactive 360 degree light field display". It had a high speed rotating mirror with high speed projector to project the different images for each direction. The projector was setup at the top of the mirror and projecting the light down to mirror. The previous system has only one projector and projected the limited color tone at each images. On the other hand, this system use multi projector near the center top location.

And each projector is setup different place and it has different angle to the mirror, this is interpolate the direction for viewing. This method can improve the freedom of the design parameter between the number of image per round and the tone depth in each image.

The third is "Real-time Ray Capturing and Display System for All Directions around Object". It is presented by the Toshiaki Fujii from Natoya University. This main researcher belonged to the Tachi-laboratory before.

This paper show the next version of the Seelinder with the 360 degree image capturing system. The main topic is camera part, this system get images around the object. It has 360 different angle image around the object with 27.8frames per seconds. And convert to the two line of the Optical fiber(10G bit per second) and send the display. The display show the real time image from camera system. This is interesting to note that the latest FPGA and Optical technology enable this system in this year. This is useful information for my research.

This is my introduction with this conference. There is a english abstruct in the proceedings. Please ask me when you need to read some more.
